AZIZ, Philip – Peacefully at LHSC-University Hospital on Sunday, September 13, 2009, international, prominent London artist, Philip Aziz of London in his 87th year, lost his long and courageous battle with cancer.

Fondly remembered by one brother Taft Aziz, retired businessman, his devoted sister Mrs. Elias (Julie) Bourisk of Maine and London.

Other survivors include his sister-in-law, Josephine Aziz and her children Peter and his wife Kate Aziz of Toronto, Charles Aziz, Sandra Wilton and Susan Aziz of London and several other out of town nieces and nephews.

Preceding Philip in death are his other sisters Rose Aziz of London, Mary Ayoup of Montreal and his brother Albert Aziz of London.

He is survived by numerous friends, especially Barry Callow, close friend and caregiver of Philip for many years.

Philip graduated from Yale University and Harvard, lectured in art at UWO, had numerous exhibitions, a number of portrait and liturgical art commissions, received awards, memberships, associations and listings.

Philip’s paintings, sculptures, graphics, jewelry, silver and gold items are in numerous private collections in Canada, U.S.A., Europe and Australia. Design projects include; The Landmark Centre, St Paul, MN; private residence of Susan M. Blackburn; Middlesex Court Centre, London; Ontario Place, Toronto; St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, New York; The Lady Chapel, London. Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of Philip’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers,  memorial donations may be made to the Philip Aziz Foundation of Art, 150 Philip Aziz Ave., London, ON N6G 1G8. WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 519-641- 1793, entrusted with arrangements.
